ws: 8-11mm; Jun-Jul; common/sheep's sorrel (Rumex acetosa/acetosella); pRDB - dry sandy soil in Suffolk
ID: Forewing dark brown / blackish-brown with a basal streak of pale scales and scattered pale scales mainly in the apical half
Very similar to S.cicadella and requires genital determination.
Female genitalia: Both species have a horseshoe-shaped ostial plate: in S.potentillella the posterior ends of this plate are folded dorsally, in S.cicadella they are not (the image at Moth Dissection shows a small medially directed spur in this position in S.cicadella)
