15.0862 Phyllonorycter pastorella (Royal Leaf-miner)
New to Britain London, September 2015, subsequently Kent, October 2017, Middlesex, July 2018 - mostly ex-mine on Salix sp
ID: Externally very similar to and probably indistinguishable from P.apparella. P.sagitella & P.comparella are also similar but may be distinguishable by an additional brown mark at the rear of the thorax and in the case of P.comparella by the mid-wing strigulae being more discrete.
Female genitalia: anterior margin of ventral surface of A7 with a distinctive arc of sclerotisation with a spur at each end; antrum broad, sclerotised extending to anterior margin of A7; signum similar to several other members of the genus. P.apparella lacks any significant ornamentation of A7 and has a narrow antrum.
