73.284 Hadena albimacula (White Spot)
ws: 30-38mm (MBGBI9), fw: 15-17mm (Sterling & Parsons); May-Jul, partially bivoltine Aug-Sep: Nottingham catchfly (Silene nutans); RDB south coast in Dorset,Hampshire and Kent
ID: Rich olive-brown ground colour; black, dentate, crosslines - subbasal (broadly edged white proximally and distally in its costal half), antemedian (finely edged white proximally), median (variably expressed), postmedian (finely edged white distally), subterminal (finely edged white distally); slightly sinuate black terminal line with small black interneural wedges proximally; oval and kidney marks brown-centred white rings with a black margin; a quadrate white mark dorsal to the oval (the "white spot") bordered distally by the median line and proximally by a black crescent (which I think is the dart mark, but MBGBI9 suggests the white spot itself is the dart mark); terminal cilia brown with white dashes along the veins that broaden distal to a dark ciliary line.
