fw: 11-12mm; May-Jul (Aug); grasses (Poaeceae), sedges (Carex spp); local in fens, marshes, boggy heathland and high moorland through most of GB.

ID: Forewing with a large central more or less triangular brown blotch, bordered cream-white. Costal margin of the brown blotch lined white in the basal portion, this white line projecting into the brown blotch as a spur or hook into which the cream white costal border extends; costa suffused grey. Terminal margin of the brown blotch lined white; terminal line brown. Dorsal margin diffuse. The cream colour may be more or less suffused pinkish (when fresh?).
