ID: orange-red ground colour with yellow and black blotches, most striking along the forewing costa, a small white spot on the costa near the forewing apex and a border of blue spots along the termen of both wings.
The rare migrant Nymphalis polychloros (Large Tortoiseshell) is larger (m68-72mm, f72-75mm), has much reduced yellow marks, lacks the white spot and lacks the blue spots on the forewing termen (though they are present on the hindwing termen).
