ws: 16-21mm (BTM), fw 7.5-10mm (Sterling & Parsons); Aug-Sep; birch (Betula spp); common on damp heath moss & open woodland throughout GB
ID: Similarly marked to E.demarniana which is smaller (fw 6-7.5) with a pale head and to male Epiblema scutulana which has a clean chestnut patch at the apex with terminal cilia blackish adjacent to the apical chesnut blotch and contrastingly pale dorsal to this.
