16.021 Cedestis gysseleniella (Double-barred Needle-miner)
ws: 11-13mm (MBGBI2), fw 5.5-6.5mm (Sterling & Parsons); Jun-Jul; Scots/lodgepole pine (Pinus sylvestris/contorta); local in pine woods throughout GB except N.Scotland
ID: Head and thorax whitish. Forewing white with golden-brown basal/subbasal and antemedian fasciae, variably irrorate with fuscous-tipped whitish scales - the antemedian fascia is of variable extent and may be sufficiently extensive that the forewing is better interpreted as golden-brown with a white fascia at ¼ and a whitish apical region. C.subfasciella is smaller (ws 9-11, fw 4.5-5.5mm), and when they appear similar, can also be distinguished by the position of the white fascia more distally at 2/5.
