49.138 Neocochylis molliculana (Tawny-fronted Straw)
fw: 6.3-7.4mm (my specimens); May-Sep; bristly ox-tongue (Picris echioides); first recorded in Britain at Portland, Hampshire in 1993, it has now colonised much of the South coast.
ID: C.hybridella has a white thorax and head and palps. C.dubitana also has a white head but has a black thorax. C.atricapitana has a black thorax and head. C.molliculana has a brown thorax and head with a variable mix of white. Eupoecilia angustana is somewhat similar but it has a white frons and more solid median and terminal fasciae.
