73.123 Hydraecia micacea (Rosy Rustic)
ws: 32-50mm (MBGBI10), fw: 14-21mm (Waring & Townsend); (Jul) Aug-Oct (Nov); various herbaceous plants; common throughout GB.
ID: Forewing pinkish-brown, variable in shade and intensity of pink; antemedian and postmedian lines delimit a diffuse median fascia that becomes darker towards and is sharply bordered by the postmedian line – which is diagonal with a subcostal angulation. H.petasitis (Butterbur) is somewhat similar but averages larger (fw: 19-23mm), brown without any pinkish colour and has a subterminal line with a central ‘W’.
