fw: 19-23mm; Jun-Aug; sea aster (Tripolium pannonicum) on saltmarsh, goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) in woodland clearings; NS-B on south and east coasts of England from Hampshire to Yorkshire, welsh coast and in inland woods in Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent and S.Wales.
ID: Forewing grey with diffuse brown dorsal and costal streaks and distinct oval and kidney marks. C.verbasci (Mullein) and C.lychnitis (Striped Lychnis) lack oval and kidney marks, have a pale brown forewing ground colour and a scalloped termen. C.verbasci (Mullein) flies Apr-May.
