16.018 Swammerdamia compunctella (Rowan Drab)
ws: 14-15mm (MBGBI3), fw 7-7.5mm (Sterling & Parsons); Jun-Jul; rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), hawthorn (Crataegus spp); NS-A in open woodland patchily throughout GB.
Swammerdamia compunctella §1 male
ID: Head white; thorax and forewing grey. Most similar to S.caesiella with is smaller (fw 4.5-6.5mm) and has mixed fuscous and white tegulae.
Male genitalia: Valva without a pointed apex; saccus not expanded at apex; aedeagus shorter than armature; valva 3x longer than broad, apex of aedeagus rounded (not tapered)
