65.016 Achyla flavicornis (Yellow Horned)
ws: 17-20mm; Feb-Apr; silver/downy birch (Betula pendula/pubescens); common - ssp galbanus in England & Wales, ssp scotica in Scotland
ID: Orange antennae (hence flavicornis), but it is the yellowish tufted scape that actually give the "yellow-horned" appearance. Forewing grey with variable greenish-white or white frosting most apparent at the central portion of the costa; variable dark antemedian and postmedian lines, the former usually double and the latter often but often less obviously so; these lines may or may not converge dorsally (in the female?); a variably prominent pale oval mark is placed subcostally between the two (sets of) lines. Ssp scotica is larger and a darker grey.
