73.105 Dypterygia scabriuscula (Bird's Wing)
fw: 16mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 34-42mm (MBGBI10); May-Jul, occasionally bivoltine in south Aug-Sep; docks / sorrels (Rumex spp), knot-grass (Polygonum spp); local in England and Wales
ID: Forewing with a large chocolate brown / dark fuscous area extending from the costa leaving a pale brown / ochreous narrow dorsal margin and broader terminal margin. Narrow black lines include a basal streak (separating the chocolate and ochreous areas dorso-basally), a very fine dentate antemedian line; a wavy postmedian line (separating the chocolate and ochreous areas at the termen) with a prominent lobe extending towards the tornus; edging of dart, kidney and oval marks (which are otherwise indistinct); several short streaks from the termen.
