70.244 Colotois pennaria (Feathered Thorn)
fw: 19-23mm; Sep-Dec; various broadleaved
trees; common in England & Wales, local in Scotland.
ID: Male has markedly bipectinate antnnae. Somewhat similar to: Odontopera bidentata (Scalloped Hazel) which has a much more obviously scalloped forewing termen and flies May-Jun; and Crocalis elinguaria (Scalloped Oak) which is usually yellower, lacks the apical white spot usually shown by C.pennaria and flies mainly Jul-Aug.
