73.068 Allophyes oxyacanthae (Green-brindled Crescent)
fw: 17-20mm; Sep-Nov; hawthorns (Crataegus spp), blackthorn/plum (Prunus spp), crab aple (Malus spp), dog-rose (Rosa canina); common in England, Wales and S.Scotland, local in C&N.Scotland.
ID: Forewing brown with a variable amount of metallic green streaking and dusting. Form capucina is dark brown without any metallic green scales. In both forms the oval and kidney marks are large and paler than the ground colour; a black basal streak and black antemedian line delimit an additional pale basal area (so that it has the appearance of 3 pale stigmata on each forewing); the thorax is also contrastingly paler than the forewing ground colour.
