ID: Forewing ground colour glossy black with whitish distal margin to kidney mark. Hindwing in male white with narrow dark margins, in female greyish-fuscous, paler towards base. Antennae fasciculate in male, ciliate in female.
A.lutulenta (Deep-brown Dart) and A.lueneburgensis (Northern Deep-brown Dart) are similar; they are smaller (fw 15-18mm), browner, usually lack the white distal edge to the kidney mark and the male antenna is bipectinate.
