62.017 Sciota adelphella (Willow Knot-horn)
ws: 20-24mm (Norfolk Moths), fw 10-12mm (Sterling & Parsons); late May - mid-Aug; white willow (Salix alba); currently established in East Sussex, Kent and Suffolk, rare migrant elsewhere.
ID: Basal area salmon-pink; antemedian line white, zig-zag, not reaching costa, broadly edged black on both side; median+postmedian area salmon-pink at dorsum, grey, irrorate whitish elsewhwere; stigmata obscured; subterminal line white, zig-zag, complete, somewhat obscurely edged blackish, more obviously near costa; subterminal area grey, irrorate whitish, blackish apical patch, blackish terminal interneural spots.
S.hostilis has a dull reddish basal area, lacks the median dorsal pink patch and has more obvious stigmata. S.rhenella has a pale peachy basal area and broad, strongly contrasting, black margins to the antemedian line (its median area varies from pale peachy to grey)
