Spargania luctuata (White-banded Carpet) §1 male
ID: Dark with a prominent white postmedian band. The dark areas proximal to the white band are often paler and show more irroration with white than the dark areas distal to the white band, but both the degree of this colour contrast and the amount of white irroration are variable. Pale subbasal, antemedian and subterminal lines are present; the postmedian white band as partially divided by a diffuse line of dark scales; the median fascia has a dark spot in its costal half (which may be obscured in specimens with little white irroration).
