70.115 Venusia cambrica (Welsh Wave)
fw: 13-15mm; Jun-Aug; rowan (Sorbus aucuparia); local on
moorland in Devon, upland areas in Wales and N.England and at low to middle
altitudes in Scotland.
ID: Characterised by a pair of blackish spikes projecting from the centre of the post-median cross-line. Ground colour is usually whitish-grey, but in form bradyi it is dark grey and most of the markings are obscured. Hydrelia sylvata (Waved Carpet) is similar to the typical form but its cross-lines are less distinct and lack the pair of spikes.
