fw: 10-12mm; bivoltine May-Jun, Jul-Sep; 1st gen elder (Sambucus nigra), 2nd gen angelica (Angelica archangelica); local in England, Wales and lowland Scotland
ID: Well-marked specimens should be identifiable from the white spots at tornus of both forewing and hindwing, at posterior margin of thorax and a pair on dorsum of abdominal S3(?). However not all these spots are always discernable. The melanic form angelicata is brownish-black and lacks all the white spots - it cannot be distiguished from other melanics without genital dissection.
