ws: 5-6mm (MBGBI1); bivoltine Apr-May, Jul-Aug; beech (Fagus sylvatica) mine occupied Jun-Jul, Aug-Oct; common throughout England & Wales, scarce in Scotland.
ID: Forewing with a pale fascia and no other pale spots; terminal cilia not abruptly whitish beyond a line of dark-tipped scale; fascia distal to middle of forewing, white, not metallic, with a purplish-fuscous fascia proximal to it.
