61.008 Lampides boeticus (Long-tailed Blue)
ws: m32-34mm, f36-42mm; scarce migrant to S.England, mostly in Aug & Sep
ID: Male upperside blue, female upperside brown with a variable amount of blue suffusion from the wing base; underside with wavy white bands on a pale brownish ground colour; a long thin black 'tail' projecting from the termen towards the tornus with 2 subterminal black spots in the interneural spaces one on either side of the tail. The tails may be lost with wear but the underside pattern is unique amongst British Lycaenidae.
