12.020 Nemapogon variatella (Varied Fungus Moth)
ws: 10-14mm (MBGBI2); Mar-May and less commonly Jun-Aug; RDB - local in barns, warehouses and granaries in the London area.
ID: Forewing white with brown/blackish markings and suffusion which are variable in extent. Head white. Similar to other Nemapogon species and requires genital determination particularly to distinguish from N.inconditella (for which there is only one British record).
Male genitalia: Apex of valva with a distinct curved point; apex of gnathos arms fimbriate.
Female genitalia: Strongly sclerotised ventral plate of A7 with ostium in a notch in its posterior margin
