70.027 Scopula (Calothysanis) floslactata (Cream Wave)
fw 13-16mm; May-Jun; bedstraws, woodruff, bush vetch; local in England, Wales and W.Scotland
ID: Creamy-white wings speckled with brownish scales and 3 or 4 wavy brownish cross-lines; hindwing with a small dark central spot. Terminal interneural black dots appear to be a variable feature. Quite similar to S.ternata (Smoky Wave) which lacks the hindwing spot, has straighter less distinct cross-lines and usually more dense greyer speckling.
Male genitalia
The left appendage (ceratum) of the S8 ventral plate exceeds the plate in length and is only slightly shorter than the right appendage. In S.ternata the left appendage is much shorter and does not reach the posterior margin of the plate.
