73.065 Asteroscopus sphinx (Sprawler)
fw: 17-22mm (Waring & Townsend), ws: 38-50mm (MBGBI10); Oct-Dec; various broadleaved trees; common in S.England and Wales, local in N.England.

ID: Typically forewing ground colour is light brownish grey; in form fusca it is dark olive brown. Characterized by black streaks including a long basal streak and a deeply zigzag white subterminal line which is edged black in the typical form (and largely worn in §1). Female larger than male. Antenna bipectinate in male, setose-ciliate and serrate at base in female. Foretibia is short and has a strong apical spur in both sexes.
