18.006 Rhigognostis incarnatella (Northern Diamond-back)
ws: 17-21mm; Sep-May; dame's violet (Hesperis matronalis); NS-A - county Durham, C&E highlands & SW of Scotland
ID: Resembles a large version of Plutella xylostella (Diamond-backed Moth) and similar to the other two Rhigognostis species. All three Rhigognostis species have an irregular creamy dorsal streak, which may be more or less heavily suffused greyish, creating the 'diamond-backed' appearance. In R.senilella the dorsal streak is marked with 3 fuscous blotches, not seen in R.annulatella/incarnatella. R.incarnatella is perhaps best distinguished by its pinkish costa.
