35.070 Monochroa lutulentella (Meadowsweet Borer)
ws: 14-16mm (MBGBI4.2); Jun-Aug; meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria); NS-B in fens and damp places in England mostly south of Wash-Severn line
ID to genus: Abdominal S8 forming a complete ring around the genitalia; gnathos absent; uncus absent; sacculus arcuate; aedeagus stout, tapering
ID to species: Forewing without streaks, with only 2nd discal stigma; ws >10mm; abdominal segments 1-4 ochreous dorsally > M.lutulentella.
2 colour forms light ochreous-brown and dark fuscous-brown; the stigma may be obscured in the dark form
Male genitalia: Valva with a broadly rounded and keeled apex, sacculus fairly straight and much narrower than valva; aedeagus with a cluster of cornuti at base of 'neck'
