fw: 16-20mm (Waring & Townsend), ws 36-44mm (MBGBI9); Jul-Sep; various herbaceous plants; NS-B in Scotland and N.England
ID: Forewing ground colour light brownish-ochreous. Oval and kidney marks large and pale-outlined; dark brown marks as follows: a basal line of two spots; a row of three spots bordering the antemedian line on its distal side - one on the costa, one reaching the proximal margin of the oval, the third dorsal to a pale-lined vein that extends from the wing base to the kidney mark; a short dash on the costa bordering the postmedian line on its proximal side; short 'pips' on the veins just distal to the postmedian line; a diffuse median fascia between the kidney and oval; a diffuse line of variable thickness bordering the subterminal line on its proximal side.
