fw: 14-16mm; bivoltine in S.England May-Jul, Jul-Aug, univoltine further north May-Jun; birch (Betula spp); local mainly in heathland in S.England.
ID: See Macaria for detailed comparison with the very similar M.alternata (Sharp-angled Peacock). Hind-wing terminal line continuous; apical notch shallow and brown; paw-print well-formed; post-median fascia indistinct.
