70.090 Eulithis testata (Chevron)
fw: 13-19mm; Jul-Sep; sallows (Salix spp), aspen (Populus tremula), birch (Betula spp); common throughout GB, especially on moorland and upland grassland
ID: Variable in colour from bright orange-brown to dark reddish-brown and in the amount of whitish frosting. Characterised by the 'V'-shaped central forewing cross-band; short diagonal white line at apex edging a triangular orange/brown blotch in the costal half of the termen; and by the white frosting. E.populata (Northern Spinach) is somewhat similar but it has a less angular cross-band, lacks the whitish frosting and it has a short diagonal dark line at the forewing apex.
