72.013 Euproctis similis (Yellow-tail)
fw: m16-22mm f17-23mm; Jul-Aug, partially bivoltine Oct; many broadleaved trees and shrubs; common in S.England & Wales, local in N.England and S.Scotland.
ID: Forewing white apart from some black marks at the tornus in the male, female occasionally shows faint spots here; abdomen is white at base with a yellow-orange apex; male antennae are bipectinate, female antennae are simple. E.chrysorrhoa (Brown-tail) differs most obviously in having a brown abdominal apex; males usually lack black marks at tornus and females have slightly bipectinate antennae. Leucoma salicis (White Satin Moth) has black and white ringed legs.
