15.061 Phyllonorycter scopariella (Broom Leaf-miner)
ws:6-8mm; Jun-Jul; broom (Sarothamnus scoparius); NS-B locally common in England, E.Wales & Scotland
ID: Group C - forewing markings appear white on a coloured background, C1D1 not forming a complete transverse fascia, thorax with a lighter median line; strigulae and basal streak without black edging; angle between C1 and D1 acute.
MBGBI2 mentions or implies the following feature which may help or hinder identification: the thoracic pale line may not be present, but usually is; 5C4D, these variable in appearance and the more apical strigulae may be indistinct; basal streak turns towards the costa at its distal end.
Male genitalia: Shown at Moth Dissection - the shape of the saccus, tegumen, preapical aedeagus spur, valvae, and preapical left valval spine are all a good fit for §1 - but none of the images at Moth Dissection show as strong a right preapical valval spine as shown by §1.
Female genitalia: the image at Moth Dissection is compatible with §2 (but also with several other externally dissimilar species).
